Sutton's Kindergarten Program

This morning was Sutton's kindergarten program at school. He has been talking about it and looking forward to it for so long...Adam commented that he though Sutton was more excited about this than about Christmas! We got word earlier this week that Sutton was going to be part of a special trio on the last song.

Ren and I went, along with Adam's parents and my dad (my poor mom had to work and was so sad to miss it!). Adam ended up bringing his whole class in to watch, and his fellow 5th grade teacher brought her whole class to watch too, which was cool because Sutton's study buddy Colin is in her class. So he had quite the cheering section.

They came in and he saw us immediately and waved with a big smile.

This is Sutton's little friend Charlie who has been in his class for the past 2 years.

And this little girl is one of Sutton's best friends in his class - Brianna. They sit next to each other.

Sutton did so well singing and was totally into it and knew all the actions! After each song, he would kind of "pose" and smile at the crowd. I asked him about it later, and he said his music teacher had told them to do that. :)

After about the first song and a half, Ren threw up all over me and him. Twice. I had wondered about him because he hadn't wanted breakfast this morning, which was unusual, and he'd told me a couple times that his tummy didn't feel good. But other than that, he was acting normal. Since this program was such a big deal to Sutton, we still went, but then Ren's timing of throwing up couldn't have been worse! We were in the middle of the bleachers, on the opposite end from the exit to the bathroom. So I just picked Ren up cradle-style, and walked in front of everyone as fast as I could to get out of there. We were both covered in vomit. I was able to rinse my shirt in the sink and towel off most of it from Ren's clothes. After he threw up, he started acting a lot more happy and energetic and wanted to go back to our seats. But I was traumatized and so we watched the rest of the concert from the doorway of the gym which made me so sad, but at least I got to see it.

The very last song, Sutton and two of his friends got to come up to the microphone to lead the song. Sutton was (as you can see) closest to the microphone, so you could hear his voice really well! He always talks about how he loves songs where the singer has a really 'strong voice' so I told him his voice sounded really strong afterwards and he was happy.

We had planned to go out to lunch with Ed & Janet afterwards because today was also Ed's birthday, but with Ren getting sick, we just went home to rest. Sutton got cookies in his classroom after the program and then Daddy took him out to a special Dairy Queen lunch!

Easter 2017

This year, Grandma and Papa Dreher bought the boys matching suits to wear to church for Easter. I never dress my boys in matching clothes...because I just don't even think about it. But I might have to start because this was the cutest thing ever.

I told Ren to give Sutton a hug. :)

Then they started being their normal selves and running around with sticks and crawling on the ground so we had to put a stop to that since we needed to stay somewhat clean for church.

That toothless grin won't be around much longer! You can see his top two teeth starting to come in!

At church, we had our regular service + Sunday school for the kids, and then there was a glow-in-the-dark Easter egg hunt in the gym. It was so cool! Here's Ren waiting patiently in line to go into the gym. They let the 3-and-unders go in first, so Ren got quite a few eggs before the big kids came in and got the rest.

My parents had been camping for Easter + my dad's 60th birthday, so the boys and I went to visit them Friday. The plan was to go back on Saturday but the looming weather made us cancel those plans. We had an Easter egg hunt with Adam's family Sunday afternoon. The weather dropped about 20 degrees right before we started so it was a little chilly!

So afterwards, the kids played in the foam pit downstairs, and Jessica and I made supper. Adam's parents weren't feeling well so unfortunately they couldn't come. We ate and then we all got in the foam pit and of course had to take a foam pit selfie!
