The Evil Face
Sutton has a few faces he makes that are...questionable...but the one he loves lately is just plain scary:

The Newest Obsession
This week, Sutton has started bringing his blanket with him when we take him out of his crib from sleeping. He likes to cuddle with it ALL the time now. While playing, he will randomly stop, rest his head on it for a second or two, and then go on his way. During mealtime, he likes cuddling with it in his highchair:

Weekend in KC
Adam went up to OshKosh, WI with his dad Thursday through Sunday of this weekend, and I don't love spending nights at home without him. So Sutton and I made our own little trip up to Kansas City to visit Rachael and Matt. We had so much fun!
We got there Friday afternoon and planned on going to the Plaza for a fun dinner and to walk around. Well, babies don't always allow things to go as planned and Sutton was being super whiny and clingy. So we modified our plan to go eat at the Legends, which is closer to where they live. After trying to make Sutton happy by taking him on a walk...
...our plan was downgraded again to eating at Chic-fil-a. Ah well. It wasn't as fun as a nice restaurant, but still very good food. :)
After his bath that night (that involved kicking and screaming), he got a snack and was in a much better mood. He even gave me his ornery face.
Rachael's quote of the weekend: "Sutton, we'll always have a special bond because I was with you for your circumcision." Haha.
Ever since we were roommates in college (and probably before), Rachael has always X'ed the days off on her calendar. Glad to see we made an appearance on there.
The next morning after his nap, we headed over to Deanna Rose, which is a fun petting zoo that's free during the week, and $2 on the weekends. Not bad! It would be an awesome place to go in the fall, but we were dying a bit in the heat and humidity.
That disappearing bottom lip of his is one of my favorite things. That's how he was in his 20-week sonogram. :)
We got to the prairie dog exhibit and he was all about it until...
...one came right up to him. That scared him a little.
But he got over it quickly and got back up there.
Then we decided to take him in the goat pen. No fear there. Maybe goats are more dog-like than prairie dogs?
Afterwards, we desperately needed to cool off, so we headed to the pool. Sutton actually LIKED swimming! Happy day. I think it was because he was just so hot, it felt wonderful. And there was a ball that he became obsessed with. (Thanks to Rachael for taking all these awesome pictures!)
He liked being set up on the ledge and then falling into my arms, giggling. It was really cute.
He would psyche himself up, and squeal with anticipation.
That evening, Rachael and Matt had some friends over and we grilled out. It was fun to meet her friends that I always hear about but hadn't met. One couple has a little daughter, Daisy who is a month younger than Sutton. They played together a little bit, and we had to work on sharing.
Sutton doesn't do great in big groups, so we got out his jumper to make him happy. It definitely did the trick! Daisy was mesmerized. She started bouncing on her knees with him...hilarious. We put her in it later on, but she didn't really know what to do.
We kept the kiddos up kinda late, so we took them on a walk to end the evening.
Sunday afternoon, after a little walk around the Legends and some lunch at Chipotle, the boy and I headed home, and Daddy got home that night just before bedtime. It's hard to be away from each other that long, and Sutton was ecstatic to see his Daddy. I think it went both ways. :)

The Glasses
I came home from the gym this morning, and Adam showed me Sutton's current obsession...if he sees a pair of sunglasses, they have to be on his head. He probably played with them like this for a good 15 minutes.
