Labor Day Road Trip {Part 2}

After our stop in Beaumont, we continued on to Bartlesville, OK where we stopped at Chili's for lunch.  Then we drove another 45 minutes or so to our hotel in Tulsa. We put Sutton down for his nap and tried to nap a bit ourselves, but it was short-lived. Sutton wanted to be up and busy. We went to Brandon and Cassie's house to see them and their daughter Reagan, and meet their little guy Asher.

I can't say enough good things about Reagan. She was outgoing and sweet and she and Sutton played like they'd known each other forever. They would go into her room and play and we'd just hear them talking. It was really cute. Sutton doesn't often play "with" other kids, especially when we're not around.

We ordered pizza that night and the kiddos had a picnic on the floor.

The Lorax was playing, and Sutton kept smiling for the photo but wouldn't tear his eyes from the movie.

Next, we went outside where Brandon blew up their awesome bounce house. One of Reagan's favorite parts was to sit on the floor part while it was being blown up. Sutton wasn't too sure about the whole thing at this point. I think he was partly scared because the blower deal was so loud.

But when he saw Reagan bouncing around, he was ready to play!

Baby Asher even got in on the fun. He's like a 2-year-old in an 8-month-old's body. Probably because he has to keep up with his sister. He was in on all the action, never complaining when he fell over or got sat on.

And Reagan was so great with him. She acts like his little mommy. She'll carry him around and make sure he's happy. They're so cute together!

Brandon has a unicycle and when Adam heard that, he had to try it. He used to ride one back in high school but it'd been 8 years or so.

Off to a rocky start. He had to hang on to our car to start.

Sutton found this little airplane car thing in their garage and was obsessed. He rode it all over.

He was a giant sweaty mess by this point. :)

We got back to our hotel and Sutton had a bunch of fun jumping on the bed.

The next morning after waffles at our hotel, we went back to their house and played for awhile. Sutton loves tunnels, any kind of tunnels, and so when they brought out this tunnel that connected to a tent, he was in love.

Baby Asher loved the tunnel too.

We ended our time with them by heading over to Chuy's for lunch. Reagan and Sutton were best buds by this point, so Reagan insisted on riding in our car to the restaurant. Adam and I felt like we got a tiny taste of life with two kids. Not ready. :)

Labor Day Road Trip {Part 1}

Awhile back, we'd talked about going camping over Labor Day weekend. But when the time came, we decided Sutton wasn't really old enough to sleep in a tent. So Adam's idea was to just head out Sunday morning and see where the road took us, find a hotel that night, and come back sometime Monday.

But Saturday night, Adam's friend Brandon who lives in Tulsa happened to call, so we decided to head that way to see them since we hadn't in awhile.

We left Sunday morning and Adam banned electronic GPS devices so that we could go old school and only use an atlas. That was fun. :) He also banned major highways, so we took all smaller two-lane highways.

Sutton was excited for our "big trip!" (And to have his photo taken.)

We didn't have plans for Diesel while we were gone, and both sets of our parents were out of town so we decided to bring him along. He was happiest at the beginning of the trip, before he knew what we were doing. Ha.

We made a stop in Beaumont, KS because we saw a sign for a historic water tower. We hit the jackpot because there were also two airplanes parked in the center of town for Sutton to ogle over.

This yellow airplane looked like someone had just parked it there and looked still fully functional.

I told Adam that it would've been fun to take pictures here (of people since, you know, that's my thing)...had lots of great backdrops. :)

Sutton strutted around like he was hot stuff. He does that all the time though, I suppose.

There was this red airplane that was no longer functional and it was a lot bigger than the yellow one and was on display. Sutton loved walking back and forth underneath the wings.
