Like this lawn chair...so interesting.
He looooooooves being outside. When I told him we were going outside, he picked up his shoes and went to the front door. I had to grab him to take him out the back instead and he was so happy to be out there.
Then he found a piece of trash in the grass and it was enthralling!
He loves trying to climb up the slide. He is usually unsuccessful, but finally made it up the other day while he was barefoot. Not tonight though.
He just sat here for awhile, swinging his legs.
Made one last attempt to climb it. No such luck.
He made his way over to his 4-wheeler and climbed on. Pressed all the buttons that haven't worked since before he was born.
So instead, he made the vroom vroom noises.
Tried to get off, but couldn't quite do it on his own.
Asked momma for help. Such a cutie.
At 17 months, Ren:
*You sleep 8pm til 6:30am ish. When you get up, we cuddle for awhile before we eat breakfast. Daddy and Sutton sleep in, so this is special Momma-Ren time. We both eat oatmeal - I heat yours up and add some banana baby food.
*Daddy and Sutton usually get up sometime after we eat and then you take a nap around 2 hours after you wake up. Your afternoon nap is around 2pm and usually lasts 2 hours. You don't really cry when you wake up, you just move around and sit up.
*Before bedtime, we rock and sing/hum. If I sit down in the rocker with you and don't start humming our songs right away, you start humming until I do. We hum Amazing Grace and Come Thou Fount. Sometimes Step by Step. You still lay in my arms sideways like a little baby. I love this because that's the only time you'll let me hold you like that.
*You still wear size 3 diapers and 12-18 month clothes. You're getting so skinny, but you eat like crazy. One morning while we were on our trip, Aunt Rachael said you ate 3 bowls of oatmeal for breakfast.
*You love baby food, especially your little squeezie pouches. You also love bananas, cheese, hummus, and milk. You have finally learned how to use a cup on your own without me having to tip it up for you.
*You call everyone that you love Dada still. Daddy, Mommy, Sutton, Grandma, Papa...we're all Dada. You can say Diesel pretty well. And uh oh, oh yeah, cracker, woof woof, as well as lots of baby babble.
*You're pretty quirky. You have this ridiculous toothy grin. You hug by laying your head on people. You walk around with your hands behind your back. You always try to sneak out the front door when any of us goes outside and leaves you behind. When I lay you in your crib, if I don't lay one of your blankets on top of you, you grab it and try to hand it to me so I'll spread it over you.
*You go to your room when we ask if you're sleepy. You go to the bathroom when we ask if you're ready for your bath. You go to your room when we say you need a new diaper. You go to the cabinet when we ask if you're hungry and the fridge when we ask if you're thirsty. You go to the front door when we say we're going to get in the car, or when we say Grandma or Papa are coming over.
*We lay you down to sleep when you're still awake, and you usually stand up in your crib and look out your window. We have found that if we use the monitor like a walkie talkie and tell you "Ren you need to lay down and go nigh night," you will usually listen to us which is so funny.
I took this video of you today. We got back from a trip and Grandma Janet and Papa Ed had brought Diesel back to our house since they'd been taking care of him. Usually his dog food is shut away in a cabinet but it was setting out today and you decided Diesel needed to be fed. Notice how you say "Diesel!" and then your "Oo oo" (woof woof).
