Pool Time

We got a bigger kiddie pool for Sutton's birthday and set it up the other afternoon for the boys to play in.

Poor Ren is so covered in chigger bites that he looks like he has chicken pox.

Sutton & Ren and a Little Video

Look at all these blog posts I'm doing lately! Craziness.

Adam has put together an awesome video for my business about what I do and what inspires me. I will post it at the end of this post. Part of the video was him going with me on some shoots for behind the scenes footage. Well...my biggest inspiration is my two boys, so of course part of the video had to have them in it. We went out on the homestead one evening and I took some photos and played with them while Adam videoed...here are the results from that shoot! (You're getting a sneak peek of the photos here before I post them on my photo blog!) :)

We walked out the door and found a turtle in our driveway!

You see how Ren looks at Sutton to see what he's doing? It's my favorite. He does this all the time and I captured it in several instances on this shoot.

Sutton will be 6 on Friday, so these are serving as his 6-year-old photos too! He's got such a handsome smile.

They aren't used to me making them touch each other so much. Haha. And it was hooooooootttttttt.

Funks Visit from Colorado

My brother Michael, his wife Sara, and their two kids Carson and Selah came to visit this weekend. We planned Sutton's party to coincide with their visit and had a great time! They arrived Thursday night to my parents' house, and I happened to have a photo shoot in a nearby town, so I stopped in and pulled into the driveway at the same second they did.

I was so excited because I hadn't met my new niece Selah. She was born in April. I got to snuggle her a bit and even got some smiles, but the second we went to take a photo together, she started crying. Gah.

So I had to take a non-crying photo while her momma was holding her.

The next morning, I brought Ren back to my parents house to visit. I walked in and Selah was sleeping in just a diaper in Sara's arms, so I took her and held her while Sara finished getting ready. She is the sweetest thing. Naked little babies are the best.

Sutton had VBS in Wichita, so he and Adam did that. The rest of us drove to visit my grandparents (Ren, Carson, and Selah's great grandparents) at their house. My grandpa had surgery a few weeks ago so he was still mostly bedridden.

We always seem to put someone in this tin toy can while we're there.

Grandpa was able to get up for awhile, so we arranged a great grandbaby photo with them, minus Sutton.

This was their first time meeting Selah too.

My other Grandma lives right close, so she came over to visit as well. And she got her great grandbaby photo too.

Ren and Carson had a tough time with each other most of the time. Putting two 2-year-olds together is apparently not always a good time, haha. So Ren chilled on the couch with the iPad at the end.

We went back to our own house for naps and then we had Sutton's party out at our house that evening (see the last post). The plan was for Michael and Carson to camp out in our woods with Adam and Sutton, but due to heat and and impending storm, Michael and Carson ended up sleeping in the studio with Sara and Selah. Adam and Sutton camped with some friends until about 1am when the storm rolled in. They all rushed inside and slept on the couch.

I woke up with Ren Saturday morning and made a big breakfast. Then we hung out outside, played, my parents came over, and we gushed over Selah, of course. Our little town had a city wide picnic, so we biked over and there was a bounce house, some water guns and kiddie pools. The kids had a blast and we ate some hamburgers and hot dogs. It was cloudy which was perfect because if the sun had been beating down on us it would've been way too hot.



                    



Sutton won a mini water gun and a 2 liter at the ring toss.

                 

When it was nap time for the two-year-olds, the rest of us just chilled and I held a sleeping baby for awhile.

We made hobo dinners for dinner that were really good. Papa and Renny had a moment looking out the window while they were cooking.

Shadow was sleeping with an airplane meanwhile...

My parents left after awhile and we just hung out and had the boys all take a bath together. Super cute, but obviously no photos. The next morning, we got up and played outside. We found a turtle, a snake, a lizard, and a caterpillar!

We came back in and the little boys watched the iPad with Diesel while Michael and Sara packed up. They left before lunch and we already miss them! Although I think Ren is just glad he doesn't have to share his toys with Carson anymore, haha!

So that was the first annual Dreher-Funk campout and it failed. We plan to try the second one next summer in Colorado!
