Firsts

Sutton didn't enjoy his first bath at home very much. But he's so cute even when he's screaming.

Since he was born in the middle of summer, we figured we should get him acclimated to the pool right away. Adam's parents are house-sitting for some people who have a pool, so we headed over there one day last week. Adam and his dad went swimming while Sutton, Adam's mom, and I hung out in the shade. I think he liked his first trip to the pool!

We got this cute bucket hat with whales at one of our showers, but it's still a little big on him. :)

Sutton also met his future wife for the first time last week. This is Avery and Ginger with Sutton and I.

He met his cool Uncle Michael and Aunt Sara (my brother and his wife) who live in Colorado and made a special trip to Kansas just to meet him!

Kinda crazy how we used to just be a family of four, and now there are seven of us! Plus Axl's butt. :)

Saturday night, we took Sutton to church for the first time. I dressed him in jeans for the first time too, but they were waaaay too big.

Here's a better look at his outfit (his onesie says I love Dad). Pardon my battle wound - that bruise is still from my IV!

Sutton Loves His Daddy

Talk about my heart being in a puddle...

Aunt Rachael's Photos

Rachael posted some photos on facebook today from when she was down here for Sutton's birth and I wanted to share a few of them.

This was my inspiration board during labor. Rachael wrote the message and then signed that it was from our dogs (with a paw print). When my dad came in the room, he added their dogs' paw prints as well as his own footprint. Weirdo.

Right after he was born. We were still in the delivery room.

One of the first times Adam held Sutton, this was on our trip up to our recovery room.

My parents, outside the delivery room after hearing Sutton cry for the first time. This is one of my favorite photos. Good job, Rachael.

Sutton's first full day of life. He was already stylin. And I was in love. :)

With Rachael in the hospital.

He likes to suck on his fingers...the only problem is that he uses the rest of his hand to attack his face while he's doing it. Crazy boy.

And again with the fingers... We put a sock puppet thing on his hand to try to keep him from scratching his face.

We died laughing at the expression on his face in this photo for quite awhile.

And us at home. Too bad we're missing the big one, or this could've been a nice family photo. :)

Here's a photo that Rachael got of my mom holding Sutton for the very first time in the hospital...

Sutton Meets the Fam

Sutton has already been held by a lot of people. We tried to catch a photo of everyone who's come to visit. So here he is meeting all his family!
Great-grandma Norma (my grandma). It's been extra exciting for my side of the family because this is the first of a new generation. So Sutton gets to be the first grandbaby!

Great-grandpa Melvin (my grandpa).

Grandma Janet (Adam's mom).

Grandpa Ed (Adam's dad).

Aunt Jessica (Adam's sister) and Cousin Aubrynn (our niece...who loves Airheads candy :).

Grandpa Bruce (my dad).

Great-grandma Vernetta (my grandma).

Great-grandpa Rollie and Great-grandma Vernetta (my grandparents).

We haven't gotten a photo of my mom with Sutton - mom, we need to do that! Here are a couple other photos. My 39 week belly photo, taken on our way to the hospital:

Diesel, keeping an eye on Sutton while we were getting ready for bed:

And just a cute photo of the itty bitty:

Coming Home

I'm going to be honest. I'm completely overwhelmed with the amount of photos we've taken of Sutton and what I'm supposed to do with them. There are SO MANY. I don't know that I'll be able to blog them all, so I'm going to try to break them up into lots of posts. I still probably won't get to them all.

We'll start out with some photos of Sutton coming home from the hospital. Here I am putting on his going home outfit. Putting a baby in clothes is hard. I still haven't gotten the hang of it.

Handing him off to Adam to be put in the car seat.

All squished in and ready to go for our first car ride! He probably didn't even notice...he slept through the whole thing.

Finally meeting these dogs he's heard from so much over the past 9 months.

And I had to get a good shot of his cute cute going home outfit. It says "Mommy Loves Me" and has a dog on it. Of course. And those cargo pants...LOVE them. :)

After we were home and changed and getting comfy, I sat on the couch with my baby, and look who decided he also needed to be in my lap.
Don't let that photo concern you...we really don't let the dogs walk all over him and lick him all the time. Just some of the time. :)

And we'll end with the cutest. photo. ever. Little Sutton in daddy's motorcycle helmet.
