DIESEL

is cute. Lindsey found this old photo of me and my puppy on her iPhone today. :)

Mother's Day

I know this is a day late, but I wanted to make a post honoring the greatest woman in my life! I love my mom so much...I was thinking through what I wanted to say about her, and why I love her. Really, it's simple: she has always been exactly what I needed her to be.

When I was a child, she made me feel safe, loved, beautiful, and special. As a teenager, she was always there for me to talk to, but put much-needed boundaries on my social life (as we learned in church this weekend, you don't put boundaries on things you don't love...). Now, as an adult and soon-to-be Grandma for our baby, my mom is laid back and unintrusive, excited, willing to help with anything, she allows me independence but is always there to talk and listen. AND...she still makes me feel safe, loved, beautiful, and special. I love you mom!

We had a baby shower this weekend, and it was awesome. I hope to have photos up soon to show you. My mom gave me a card, and in it she wrote "Things I've Learned About Being a Mom." I wanted to share her list with you.

1. You will never be the same, you will be forever changed.

2. You will sacrifice almost anything for your child to be happy.

3. You pray a lot!

4. You think your child is the greatest, most beautiful, most talented kid in the world.

5. Cleaning is redundant!

6. Mom's are their children's biggest fans!

7. Peanut butter will remove chewing gum from hair.

8. When you see your husband as a daddy, you love him even more.

9. If you change the words in a storybook, your child will correct you.

10. You can say goodbye to Sunday afternoon naps.

11. When you're in a store and hear someone say "Mom," you still turn around (even though your kids are all grown up) !

12.When your child is a teenager, you will worry about them, imagine the worst, get made when they're late, and breathe a sigh of relief and a "thank you God" when you hear them come home.

13. The love you have for your child will never end, not even when they get married and have their own babies.

32 Weeks

How far along? 32 weeks
Baby is the size of a(n): Squash (curled up), knee-high boot (stretched out)
Food cravings/aversions: Still not much. I've been cheated of that pregnancy experience. Oh well. :)
Sleeping: Still good...we had a Doberman sleeping in our bed two nights this week because he normally sleeps under a window and one night there was a thunderstorm that scared him, the next night some strong winds that scared him. He's a great protector...note the sarcasm.
Milestones: I'm a giant. And I waddle now. Many of my preggo clothes are too short and show some belly, so I've resorted to wearing a lot of dresses over jeans, which make me look tent-like.
Weird things I read online: He's almost 4 pounds, 18 inches long, and could have a full head of hair! But...I'm pretty sure I was a baldy when I was born, so maybe not. And this week is the peak week for movement (which I'm DEFINITELY feeling), because now he'll start to run low on room. Also, he's moving to a head-down position in preparation for birth, which means his feet are in prime position to kick my ribs! Yes! :)
Interesting things that happened this past week/anticdotes: Bentley likes to kick everyone. Me, his dad, the dogs...even if he just thinks you're invading his space, he'll kick you. Adam said he's going to stop trying to cuddle with me at night because he always gets kicked. We had our baby shower and are having another this weekend, which I'm super excited for. Other than that, it was a pretty low-key week.

Ginger was super sweet today and bought her two preggo bosses cute cute onesies! I was just imagining how cute Bentley's little belly will look in a onesie that says "Little Squirt" so we put them on our large bellies. :)

Favorite Smells {Top 5}

Maybe a weird topic, but it's what came to my brain this morning...

1. Rain.

2. My dogs both have a very distinct body scent, and I love it (is this weird?). If they're really dirty, I don't like that dirty dog smell...totally not what I'm talking about. Our dogs get bathed regularly. But Diesel has really bad breath. That's also not what I'm talking about. Haha.

3. Pumpkin scented candles.

4. Goodies baking...mostly chocolate chip cookies.

5. Adam. He doesn't wear cologne, but I know his smell and it makes me attracted to him. :)

Maize Baby Shower

Yesterday, Adam's awesome co-workers threw us a baby shower. It was great! Big thanks to Meg, Kathy, Martha, and Christine (I'm not missing anyone, am I?) for planning such a fun shower! I wish I would've gotten a picture with you!

There were lots of people I didn't know since they were all teachers from Adam's school, but it was really fun to meet them all. They decked out the room in all BOY decorations and had a great spread of food. We got so much stuff for our little man - I don't know if we have room for it. I'm sure we'll work it out somehow. :) Thanks again to everyone who planned the shower and also everyone who attended (even though you "named" our baby Winky...).
