March Insta 2

I posted this for a Throwback Thursday...and now it's the wallpaper on my phone. :) This is one of my favorite photos of my boys from when we first brought Sutton home. He fit in those jammies for all of 2 minutes.

And now he looks like this while watching a movie (haha):

One afternoon we were outside (I think Adam was washing the cars), and Sutton asked me to take his picture while he stood by this bush.

One of our "things" is that we often just start making funny faces at each other without discussing it, often in complete silence. Until the giggling starts, at least. Daddy is much better at it, but I try.

We went to Adam's classroom AKA the Kingdom of Dreher one evening to watch KU play in the Sweet Sixteen (or whenever it was that they played the last game they won). It's more fun to watch basketball when your screen is surrounded by a stone castle wall.

One fun thing about being a wedding photographer is that we've participated in our fair share of photobooths. You'd think Ginger and I would be better at it by now (I left off the top two photos for that very reason).

Sutton wanted to make "foopwints" in the snow one random day we had snow last month.



Then we came inside and had a dance party. The Toddler station on Pandora is pretty fun.

He has taken to sitting on top of his choo-choo train table. I'll randomly find him up there eating a snack or just chilling. Exhibit A:

We were without Adam except for at night time for a few days last week/weekend (and one night he was even gone!) because he was working on his thesis and had other school commitments. Sutton and I both do better when we have fun things to do OUTSIDE of our house. So Thursday morning, I took him to a nearby nature park to go on a walk since he didn't have school that morning like normal. We played a bit of hide and seek...here's when he found me hiding behind a tree:

We walked a ways (a pretty far ways on 2-year-old legs). When he realized I was stopped behind him to take this picture, he 180'ed and said "You coming Mommy?!"

Then off he went!



We had to pretend to be race cars but then we ran out of gas. So we filled up with gas by sitting on this log.

 

We finally made it to the big bridge and we had to stop and look for ducks in the creek below.

On the walk back to our car, we encountered lots of dogs. But the most frightening of all creatures was this:

Sutton was a bit frightened of the ladybug and wouldn't touch it...but touched a rolly polly we found and laughed at all the dogs that passed us. Weird kid. :)

After our adventure that day, we stopped at Subway (one of Sutton's favorites) for a sandwich. He kept telling me "this is my FAVORITE place." (Ginger, you know what I mean with the emphasis there.) And though he's probably eaten 10 or more Subway sandwiches in his lifetime, this time, he decided to eat it sideways. Interesting.

Watching the Shockers game online. It was exciting that we could watch it in real time on our computer since we don't have a TV but didn't want to miss the big game!

One of the nice afternoons last week, Sutton took his snack on the back steps. Diesel reeeeeeally wanted a bite of Sutton's cookie.



Then we went outside and Diesel started rolling around in the grass on his back. Sutton had to do it too, and wiggle his legs in the air. That PowerWheels car in the background has become a favorite pasttime. He's so good at steering it and putting it in reverse...it amazes me!

Since it was so nice that day, Sutton and I went to Avivo and had pizza together on their patio. It was such a nice evening because Sutton has been pretty difficult lately, but that night he was being so sweet and charming.

Saturday morning, Sutton wasn't feeling well and woke up extra early. After some medicine, he was doing much better, but due to the early morning, both he and I were tired. We crawled back into bed with Daddy and I put on a movie so I could sleep and he could watch. After a bit, I realized he was making sleeping noises, so I turned over to see this. He never sleeps in our bed (he's always too distracted that we're in there), so this was extra special.



As I mentioned in my previous post, Sutton was very moody for our Easter celebration. It started at the restaurant the night before Easter, and on the way home, he sat like this the entire time, intermittently closing his eyes.

Sunday at Easter lunch, we were trying to tide him over til lunch time with some bread. His cousin Aubrynn made everyone a super-awesome placemat.

After Easter at Adam's parents house, we came home and all took a nap. Sweet, sweet bliss. Then we loaded up and got some McDonald's, and went out to one of Adam's RC flying fields for a picnic and some flying.

Then Sutton decided it was a good idea to come lay on me. Then Daddy laid on top of us all. :) I love this.

Easter {2013}

Sutton and I went to church on Saturday evening with my parents, and then out for dinner afterwards. So Sunday morning was a peaceful time before we headed over to Adam's parents house for an Easter egg hunt and lunch. We also didn't get all dressed up, so please disregard the t-shirts and jeans. :)

Yesterday was beautiful out, so Adam and Sutton and I walked to Adam's parents house which is about a mile away from ours (very handy). When we got there, my parents were just pulling in. At first, Sutton didn't know what to do with all of his grandparents together, ha! He was a bit off and I'm not sure if he wasn't feeling well or if he just felt like being moody, but he enjoyed the Easter egg hunt at least, and asked if we could do it again when it was all over.

Cousin Corbin has decided that he's too old for hunting Easter eggs, so he hid them for the little kids. Luckily, he made several of them easy enough for Sutton to find.

Cousins Breegan and Aubrynn sat down with Sutton on the deck afterwards to count their eggs and eat a little candy.

Then we had to take a few family photos. I posted several cause I couldn't decide which one I liked best. Thanks to Adam's sister Jessica for taking these for us!

                     

Then we had to eat some more candy.

We had an awesome lunch that Janet and Jessica prepared, and cake that my parents had made. Then we all went back outside to play some more. Just before we walked back home, my parents gave Sutton an Easter gift with some fun stickers and games and of course some chocolate too. :)

And Breegan had a fun time swinging. :)

And we're so thankful for the real reason we celebrate this amazing holiday...the sacrifice Jesus made for us by dying on the cross to save us all. I kept thinking about this awesome truth throughout the day...how much more real it has been made to me since having a son of my own. It really was the ultimate sacrifice for God to lay down His Son's life for me and for you.
