We all met up Saturday morning at Sutton's soccer game, where he scored his first goal of the season!! Carson and Ren ran around stealing snacks and wipes out of other people's diaper bags, and Carson even sat with the big boys on the team bench.
We had planned on going to Botanica for their BOOtanica Halloween celebration, but the line was crazy long and we decided not to deal with all the people. Everyone came back to our house for a bit and we got the kiddos in their costumes for a picture, if nothing else.
Cutest picture ever, if you ask me. Only took 6 adults acting crazy to get it. :) Everyone but us headed to Newton to eat lunch and Carson went down for a nap. After we fed ours, we also headed to Newton and both boys fell asleep in the car.
We had planned on going to a pumpkin patch near Newton, but with the kiddos' napping, it didn't end up working out. So we just hung out around my parents house.
When everyone was up, we went out to my grandma's land. My dad bought a piece of land less than a mile from their house for my grandma and it's mostly just farmland. Adam decided he and Sutton would camp out there Saturday night. So we went and set up camp and hung out for awhile. The boys loved playing in the wide open spaces. It was so picture-perfect out there with everyone.
Sutton didn't make it into the photo above because he made it his mission to go out on his 4-wheeler and collect every stick and dried out corncob to throw in the fire pit.
We wanted to take a family photo and figured this was as good time as any while we were out in nature. So as I was getting the tripod set up and testing my light, my husband was very helpful.

Then I thought I'd take a few photos of Sara, Carson, and Michael for their Christmas card (or whatever they want to use them for).
Ren snuck in there somehow...

Carson loved playing in the fire pit. So many sticks and so little time!
These two were so funny together. Like little twins but SO different. Ren is 3 months younger, but a little taller than Carson. But Carson talks up a storm and Ren doesn't really. And Carson was always taking Ren's toys and saying "Mine!" and Ren just didn't care. First child vs. second child personalities here. It was funny and I'm glad they found a way to get along. Mostly.
They have the exact same expression here. :) Like "What? We're not doing anything."
Adam flew one of his planes around for a bit and Sutton looked through the FPV goggles.
We headed back to my parents house and made dinner. Steak and potatoes. Yum. After dinner, we came back to the campsite and lit the fire. It was a beautiful night. Perfect weather and great company. The babies got a bit restless, but we had to keep them out there until Adam was done making his fire-cooked beef-and-cheese dip.
Adam, Sutton, and Michael camped out there. The rest of us went back to my parents house and got settled in for the night. Sara and Carson were in the guest room downstairs, Ren was in my old room which is now like a den, and I slept on the couch. We all fit!
In the morning, Ren was up first by 6am, so I went and sat with him in the rocking chair where he fell back asleep. I got cold after awhile, so we went out to my bed on the couch and got cozy and he fell back asleep on me again. Then my dad got up and was noisy making coffee so we went and got in bed with my mom, where Ren fell asleep on me again, haha. We were there for about 15 minutes when my mom rolled over, saw Ren, and said she had no idea he was in the bed! For a busy toddler, that's pretty remarkable. It was a fun memory to just hang out in bed with Grandma for awhile.
But then we were all up and busy. As I was getting ready in the bathroom, the boys wanted to play in the toilet, but Ren was okay with just unrolling all the toilet paper instead, haha. (You see him eyeballing it here...)
Sara and Carson are allergic to dogs, so Cooper, Belle, and Diesel had to stay outside. But Carson played with them through the door.
We played in the basement for awhile...that's where all the good toys are.
My grandparents all came over for brunch mid-morning. We ate an awesome brunch of cinnamon-sugar muffins, fruit, bacon, sausage, egg casserole, Dutch apple bread, and orange juice. Then we all went outside to visit. My grandma helped Ren line up all the cars.
Michael and Sutton climbed a tree.
We tried for a picture of the grandparents with their great-grandbabies, but the two littles were D-O-N-E. As you can see.
We visited for awhile longer and then it was time for Michael and Sara to start the drive home so Carson could sleep in the car. We said our goodbyes but are excited to see them again at Christmas!
