Whoa whoa whoa. Ren, you are 10 months old today!
We're in double-digit months, and we will only have one more of these month posts before you're ONE YEAR old!!
*You are probably somewhere in the 20-21 pound range. You're still in mostly size 12 month clothes. But your torso is so long that some outfits (such as the one we took photos in today) are 18 month size so that we can get them to snap. You wear size 3 diapers still.
*You have done a complete 180 on us in the past week. Last month, I stated (and I quote): "You definitely have your Daddy's personality and demeanor. I am a high stress person who has to remind myself to chill out and go with the flow. Sutton is that way too. You are just a chill, laid back little guy."
NO LONGER THE CASE. You have completely changed it up on us. You are not content to just sit and watch anymore. You will still sit with toys for awhile, but even that doesn't last long anymore. You often whine when I sit you down and walk away, which didn't used to be the case.
*You still can't crawl, but you sure can get around. You are so so close to crawling. You will get up on all fours and lunge forward, landing flat on your belly. You can get to most things this way, or by squirming around.
*You are finally able to sit back up on your own after laying down.
*You have become much more demanding with food. If you see me making your food, you start whimpering loudly until I come to the high chair. If I get up to get you more food, you flip your lid until you're sure I'm coming back with more.
*You're a really good eater! You like veggies better than fruit, you think fruit is too tart. But usually I can still get you to eat it. You love puffs and are still working on getting them in your mouth by yourself. You are able to about 30% of the time. :)
*Other favorite foods are peas, green beans, chicken. We mix your purees with rice cereal and you seem to like the thicker consistency.
*Right now, I usually feed you baby food around 3 times a day - at each meal of ours. You nurse in between those, at nap times, and at bed time. It usually averages out that you still end up nursing every 3.5-4 hours. But sometimes you only nurse for like 2 minutes before you're done. Other times it'll be up to 6 minutes before you're finished.
*Just like when I'm getting your baby food, you're also very impatient when waiting to nurse. If we sit down in the rocking chair or I start making motions to get ready to nurse, you start whining until we start. You just like to eat. Period.
*You also love to be on the move. In addition to the lunge/crawl, you are constantly pulling up on things now. This is new in the last week along with the change in attitude. You aren't completely able to pull up on things by yourself, but that doesn't stop you from trying. You usually get about half way up before needing help.
*You would stand all day if we'd let you. You just love being upright. You have no balance though. But we are starting to wonder if you will skip crawling and go straight to walking.
*There are times lately when I'm tired of the constant movement, so I will just lay on the ground and let you climb over me. You like that game. There have been a couple of nights where big bro was in bed but you refused to sleep, so I laid on your floor and you climbed all around and explored awhile before wearing yourself out.
*You usually go to bed around 8:30, but this week there were a couple of 9pm nights.
*You have been waking up anywhere between 1 and 3 times each night. Much better than it had been. When we got back from our Colorado trip in mid November, you regressed and were getting up 4-6 times every night. Since I usually work down in my office til 12 or 1am, it was killing me. This is much better.
*You get up for the day between 6:30 and 7:30 typically. If it's on the early end of that, I bring you back to bed with me and we snuggle. Sometimes you'll doze with me a bit, but sometimes (like this morning) you will just crawl all over me and pull my hair and play with my face and be completely joyful about it. At 6:30 in the morning. I'm not a morning person.
*You nap about 2 hours after you wake up. So usually around 9ish. This nap lasts anywhere from 45 minutes to 1.5 hours. Then you nap again when Sutton does around 1:30 or 2pm. Lately the afternoon naps have been 3+ hours long, which has been wonderful. I think you're tiring yourself out with all the movement.
*You're still just the happiest kid on the block. You love to be passed from person to person. You get so excited when Daddy or I come home after being gone for a bit. You give us a huge grin and want to be held. You've started smiling on command when I have a camera. You give tons of smiles to Sutton. You even smile when I tell you "No."
*Your constant moving has presented a few new challenges. You are always trying to roll off your changing table, which makes changing your diaper or your clothes very difficult. I've always undressed and dressed you for baths on the bathroom counter, but that's been really hard lately too because you just try to roll onto your tummy so you can grab things easier. With the changing table, I've started giving you your stuffed moose to play with ONLY during diaper changes. You can't play with it any other times. That definitely seem to keep your attention away from rolling off. For now.
*Bath time has changed. You're all about sitting up and splashing and playing with toys. We did away with the baby sling and got a no-slip mat for the tub so you sit in there like a big kid now. I scoot you all the way to the front so your toys don't float out of reach as much. You love love love bath time. You would probably stay in there forever. When the water is running, you put your head in the flow and think it's funny.
*You still love your brother. You smile and laugh at him all the time...even when he's doing things he shouldn't be. He wishes you were bigger and could play with him more. I sure hope he's able to wait for you. I want you two to be best buddies.
*You've got this crazy old man hair. You look mostly bald from the front (unless you look really close), but you have lots of hair on the sides and in the back. Hopefully it evens out!
*You and Sutton can share socks! People have mentioned your hands and feet seem big, but I never really thought about it until I put some of the socks that Sutton currently wears (even though they're a bit small) on you and they fit! They go almost up to your knees, but they fit way better than your baby socks.
*Your bedtime routine has even been affected by your newfound craziness. It used to be that if you weren't tired, you would just lay there and stare at me while I sang to you, or reach up and play with my mouth. Now if you're not tired, you roll around and try to sit up.
*Our normal routine is pretty similar day to day. Sutton goes to school Monday through Thursday mornings. You go hang out with Grandma Janet on Monday and Thursdays from 8:30am til 11am so I can work. On Tuesdays and Wednesdays, we hang out alone at home, doing chores or playing. Then we leave to pick Sutton up at 11 and get home by 12 (later if we run errands). We eat lunch, play or watch movies, and all three of us take a nap at 1:30 or 2. That lasts til 3:30 or 4, when we wake up and everyone gets into Mommy's bed to chill and watch a movie til Daddy gets home around 4:30. We catch up with him a bit and let him nap before he leaves for job #2. We play cars, color, hang out on the floor with toys, and make dinner. We try to do something as a family (lately those things have been Christmas related - Christmas lights, Botanica Illuminations, buy presents) before Daddy leaves for work. Then we do baths and read a book in Sutton's bed. He goes to sleep between 8:30 and 9. Sometimes you go to bed before Sutton, sometimes after. Depends on napping that day and how tired you're acting. I go work til 12 or 1am and usually you get up to nurse around that time. Then we wake up and do it all over again!

*You're a pretty snuggly guy. You are always burrowing in my chest or neck. And when we're cuddling in bed in the morning, you kind of melt into me. Maybe touch will be your love language.
*You have a goofy face you've pulled out a couple times on me and Daddy. It's almost like a giant grin, but too much to be real. And you do it more the more we laugh at it.
*The Bumbo and bouncy seat aren't as useful anymore. You twist and climb right out of the bouncy seat. The Bumbo we can still use if we're right next to you, but you can get out of that too.
See? Two peas in a pod:
