Us {Sneak Peek}

I had my lovely friend Ginger come take a few updated family photos of us last week, and while I'm less than excited about my size this year, I think we got some cute ones! Here's one of my faves so far.

22 Weeks

How far along? 22 weeks

Weight gain: Haven't weighed myself this week.

Baby is the size of a(n): Papaya

Food cravings/aversions: Had to have some pie on Sunday...couldn't figure out where to get it until Adam suggested Spear's. Then I couldn't decide between a fruit pie or cream pie...so I got both. Strawberry rhubarb and French Silk. Mmm...

Sleeping: Sleeping has been good. Sleeping hard with lots of vivid dreams. I could make a killing if I wrote my dreams down and made them into books or movies. :) I've still been having the problem where I wake up during the night to pee and then can't go back to sleep for an hour or two because my mind starts racing.

Milestones: Adam felt the baby move! We tried last week and he thought maaaaybe he felt him, but then Wednesday night (so right at 22 weeks) the baby was going crazy so I had him try again and he felt him kick three or four times. Instead of it being this special, sentimental moment, Adam said "What's his problem?" And then, "Gosh, I would hate that...having something moving around inside me all the time." Ha! Men.

How I'm Feeling: Doing okay. I feel nauseous at least once a day but it generally doesn't last long. The acid reflux has been the hardest thing lately. Tums are consumed several times daily, definitely always before bed. When I shoot weddings or am on my feet a lot, my belly gets really hard and tender right above my belly button. My doctor said it's my abdominal wall being irritated but it shouldn't be detrimental to the baby.

Interesting things that happened this past week/anticdotes: In my last post about the pumpkin patch, I wore a black-and-white plaid shirt. On Monday I tried wearing that shirt again and it already didn't fit anymore! Three days difference and I grew that much! Yikes.

Pumpkin Patch

We were going to go to the pumpkin patch on Friday after Adam got off of work, but it rained ice on us that day (what?!). Our weekends are always full with me shooting weddings and Adam's indoor fly-ins now that it's fall/winter, so we squeezed in a trip to the pumpkin patch before the wedding I shot on Saturday.

Since we were a bit limited on time, we went to Cox Farms this year because it's closer than Applejack, which is where we've got in the past. I think I prefer Applejack, but Sutton sure had fun at Cox!

There was a little hay maze for the kiddos that he ran around in.

Some playground equipment that he loved, of course. Some of it was still covered in slush and rain, so it was a little damp but we made due.

Crazy to think this will be the last time at the pumpkin patch with just the three of us! (Sutton is obsessed with making this face these days...)

My cute boys. :)

We took a hayrack ride around the farm and eventually stopped next to a couple of pumpkin patches and a little area with goats and a llama. There was a bucket of food to feed them, and Sutton took about three or four handfuls to them before we could tear him away. I'm sure those animals are well-fed.

The pumpkins were kind of expensive, so we decided we'd just buy one small one for the experience. We walked around the area that had the small pumpkins and found the perfect one.

Daddy told Sutton to try to take a bite of it. :)

I wanted to try to get a photo of Sutton and his brother...it kinda worked. This will look much better next year. :)

We walked back over to the main play area through the pumpkin patch and they were loading up this little cow train ride. Sutton loved it.

Then we played a little more on the slide and hay maze before heading out.

And asked a stranger to take a quick family photo before we left.

21 Weeks {Baby #2}

(I feel that the weeks I take my belly photo on a timer, they usually make me look terrible. But Sutton always wants to be in those, so I guess that evens it out.)

How far along? 21 weeks

Weight gain: Haven't weighed myself this week.

Baby is the size of a(n): Large banana.

Food cravings/aversions: Craving chocolate.

Sleeping: Sleeping has been good lately. The biggest problem I'm having now is that I'll wake up to pee during the night and then I can't go back to sleep because I start worrying about either work stuff or the fact that we have no name for this child.

Milestones: Excited to be on the downhill slope to 40 weeks! Also, I just have 2 weddings left to shoot (this weekend and one in November) before Baby comes. I'm excited about this because shooting weddings has really been taking it out of me this time around...way more than last time.

How I'm Feeling: Doing much better. I threw up randomly this week, but had been feeling good all morning and then quickly got nauseous and once I threw up, I felt find again. I still haven't gotten that 2nd trimester energy though. I haven't been napping cause work is really busy, but I go to bed when Sutton does. We pushed his bedtime back to 9 though, and sometimes it's a struggle to make it that late. :)

Interesting things that happened this past week/anticdotes: I started taking Sutton for walks the mornings he doesn't have preschool in efforts to keep the weight gain down a bit. I lose interest with walking semi-quickly though, so my walks are usually just around 25 minutes long and I'm not sure that makes a difference. The mornings have been pretty cool here the last couple days so I may have to start going to the Y for my walks.

Goodbye Grandpa Glen

Adam's Grandpa Glen passed away this morning. This amazing song came to mind, and especially these lyrics:

No guilt in life, no fear in death,
This is the power of Christ in me;
From life's first cry to final breath.
Jesus commands my destiny.

Finishing the Race

This weekend, Adam ran Wichita's Prairie Fire Half Marathon. He told us to meet him just shy of the finish line so that Sutton could cross the finish with him. So once we saw Daddy, I lifted him over the fence and he ran with Daddy to the end.

All the people standing around me cheered for Sutton and I even heard one guy say "That was so cool!" It was a really sweet moment and I'm so glad that Adam is such an awesome Daddy.

20 Weeks {Baby #2}

How far along? 20 weeks

Weight gain: Haven't weighed myself this week.

Baby is the size of a(n): Papaya

Food cravings/aversions: Possibly feeling more normal in this area...can't think of anything off the top of my head that makes me nauseous. But still battling the acid reflux.

Sleeping: Sleeping has been fine, but I'm definitely feeling pretty tired still these days. I've been taking a nap about every other day and the days I don't, I am just beat by bedtime.

Milestones: Halfway point! Hooray!

How I'm Feeling: Doing okay. Have good moments and bad. I feel so large already and out of breath often. I feel that my weight gain may surpass my last pregnancy. I suppose I should just accept it and not freak out about it. I can get super skinny afterwards, right? :)

Interesting things that happened this past week/anticdotes: Felt baby kick on the outside this week for the first time, and SAW my belly move for the first time today. No one else has felt him yet, but I'm sure that'll come soon. We tried to go lay out on a blanket in the country after dark for a meteor shower the other night, and my body could just not handle that. This is all real motivation to never be overweight outside of pregnancy!

A few outtakes from today's belly session:
