You may or may not have known that Draco, Adam's class pet lived with us this summer. Well, we often let him roam free around the basement because we figure his cage has gotta get quite boring. He has this love for cords, and so he made his little home beneath my desk one day. Diesel was on the other side. It was like a zoo. But they don't really get along with each other. Lots of growling going on. Draco has already gone back to the school to get prepared for the new year.
After-nap snack and movie time.
Running around our yard with a colander on his head...no biggie.
We arrived home from the grocery store one evening and found this in our bags. Neither Adam or I had picked it up. Sutton's first successful sneak-food-in-the-cart.
We waited until the actual 4th of July to buy fireworks, hoping we'd get some good sales. We didn't, but we still didn't spend much. Sutton didn't really know what to think of everything, but he picked out some good fireworks.
We just couldn't wait til it got dark, so we sat out in our driveway and lit off all our fireworks. Sutton couldn't handle the noise, so he got headphones.
After a bit of indecision, we decided to drive across town to the only big fireworks show that we could find at Bradley Fair. We loaded up on snacks from QuikTrip before the show. We just parked our Jeep in a parking lot and sat in the back.
Finally it was dark, and time for the show! We all thought it was pretty cool.
I took this because I feel like he will be doing the exact same thing when he's 15.
Some fun decor at a wedding I photographed.
Little buddies, sharing food.
He said "I see you in my 'noculars."
I had a photography workshop with my sweet friend Jess towards the beginning of the month. So much fun hanging out with her all day. Unfortunately our shooting portion of the day was over 100 degrees, so very short-lived.
Cuddle time with my boy. :)
We took the boat out to Cheney Lake one day with some of Adam's RC buddies, and our niece Bailey. Here's Bailey with another girl, tearing it up on the tube.
And Sutton got to drive the boat!
I took him on a little Chic-fil-a date one evening before we left for our vacation. He loves playing there, but always has to find me through the window and wave. And then he likes to come out and say random (sometimes unintelligible) things to me, very loudly, and then run back in the play room.
My parents had wanted to build a treehouse for Sutton and future grandkids, but didn't quite have the right trees for it in their yard. So my dad had this awesome idea to build a fire truck right above the sandbox at their house. It's attached to the back of their shed and is the coolest thing! They bough several parts at antique stores to deck it out...a bell to ring, a fire hose, some wheels that really turn. It's Pinterest-worthy for sure. :)
I posted this for a Throwback Thursday on Instagram. Three years ago, this is what my babychild looked like. Crazy.
One evening, I had Sutton and Diesel both cuddling with me. Perfection.
He's kinda spoiled.
When Sutton sees us taking his picture, this is automatically what he does now. Fake smile and thumbs up.
After a trip to the lake with Daddy and cousins, Sutton liked to pretend the pillows on our bed were kayaks. Here, he was telling me to give him a paddle because he was floating away.
Sutton has no concept of what to do and not to do in public. It's pretty funny most of the time. He LOVES to sing at the top of his lungs. Usually it's the theme to Jake and the Neverland Pirates. But this day, they were both singing ABCs as loud as they could the entire walk back to our car from the restaurant.
Last Monday night, I had to go to my in-laws to watch part 1 of the Bachelorette season finale (since we don't have a TV). Sutton got to have some cousin time, watching movies on the iPad in the dark.
We had a fun little picnic and park play-date with Baby Izzy and her mama Val last week. The cuteness is overwhelming.
Rachael sent me this picture of Rowan rocking the cute headband we got her for her birthday. She is just the most beautiful thing.
We were cleaning out an old desk that we got rid of, and found these old business cards of mine. Makes me laugh a bit.
This summer, the whole idea of a schedule has gone out the window. So here we are, having dinner at 8:30pm. Whoops.
Adam starts in-services for school in 2 days. Can't believe summer is over!
